PLAY THERAPY

Therapeutic play for children with any emotional challenge.

What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is a well-established discipline based upon several psychological theories. A safe, confidential and caring environment is created which allows the child to play. In play, a child gets the opportunity to express themselves in their natural language — the language of metaphor and image. They can communicate their feelings without having to put them into words. They can explore their feelings and learn to understand themselves better. Through this they can learn new coping strategies in the world they live in.

Who is Play Therapy for?

Children often experience difficulties in their lives that they struggle to understand or work through. It can be very worrying for parents, caregivers or teachers. Play Therapy can help a child that:

  • Is not realising his / her full potential
  • Has nightmares / disturbed sleep
  • Has suffered trauma or abuse (physical or emotional)
  • Suffers from anxiety, phobias and fears
  • Suffers because of divorce / separation
  • Has suffered a loss or bereavement
  • Has difficulty socializing with family or friends

Play Therapy is ideal for children between the ages of 3 and 11.
